It's book launch week for Standing Strong and in the middle of my vulnerability hangover- there's not another soul I'd rather take over the podcast than my dazzling friend, Bianca Olthoff. This book was dedicated to three of my close friends- and Bianca is one of them. She not only helped me with the writing process of this book- she helped me live it. We talk about why you need friends who will be honest and call you on the carpet, how to get confirmation when you know God is speaking, what it means to be a confident woman of God, and why so many women are holding back- even when they believe they were made for something great. Today you will get a little bit of sass, a little bit of funny, and a whole lot of honesty. We also chat about: -Who resists change and transition the most -Why Bianca called me "basic" -My shocking skincare secret and Bianca's guilty pleasure TV show Favorite quotes: 1. I think for too long Christian women have felt like we’re just suffering through life and we’re just surviving. We forget that God is a God who is intimately involved in our lives, who wants to partner with us in our lives, and has great plans for every woman 2. Our purpose is to decide if Jesus or not, and our calling is different in every season of our life. 3. I think that for so many women we thought that we missed the bus on our purpose. It’s too late for us, or we don’t know what God has for us, instead of realizing that God has something new for us all the time. 4. I hope that this book is a kick in the pants to women to realize God has great things for you. Hope you loved this episode! It's another takeover! And today, I'm with my friend, fellow writer/speaker, and Called Creatives Co-founder Lisa Whittle. We are tackling why most women say they don't feel strong, what it means to weed through all the competing voices in your life, and how to move forward when you want to hold back. We also talk about the huge, devastating decision that I had to make last fall- and whether or not I regret it. Lisa is such a truth-teller and we bring the heat in this conversation. If you feel like you're ready to Stand Strong, but don't know how to get out of your own way- this one's for you. We chat about: 1. How self-doubt hinders us from moving forward 2. The mind shift of partnering with God 3. The different type of people we need in our lives Favorite quotes: 1. When we begin to take God seriously, we will take ourselves seriously.2. We need to think about God partnering with us in our daily activities. If he's not going to fail us and he's not going to abandon us let's shift that and say he's going to strengthen us. He's going to give us everything we need. We don't have to feel strong, we don't have to feel confident, we don't have to feel like we know what we're doing everyday. but if we lean into him and let him give us that little boost to get going, and wisdom to know what to do, we will have the strength to put one foot in front of the other. 3. The only way we're going to get strong is to make sure that we get out of our own way. Because yes, adversity holds us back, but I think so many times self-doubt holds women back and we just don't start moving forward and do what God wants us to do.4. We have this idea that yes, God will partner with pastors, or God will partner with people working in a non-profit on the other side of the world feeding hungry children but God works with all of us, and all of our work matters. 5. When we think about whatever we're doing in our life, however, we're living, whatever the work is that God put in hand at that moment that day it is a partnership with him because everything we do that makes this world a better place that helps people is fulfilling his purpose for them. Great things we discussed: 1. Called Creatives 2. Called Creatives Book Deal Training 3. Tenet 4. American Dirt 5. Standing Strong Hope you loved this episode! Today- I'm handing my mic over! Don't worry- it's in the best hands because my dear friend and my personal board of directors Jo Saxton is taking over the show today to interview ME about Standing Strong. She didn't pull any punches. I may have cried. And we totally "went there" on all the topics. I share my story of overcoming bankruptcy and homelessness, starting a business in a McDonald's play place with a broken keyboard while nursing a baby, and why I almost sold my wedding ring. We also talk about positive toxicity, curated vulnerability, and how to tell if a dream is really from God. If you are curious about my new book and the heart behind Standing Strong- this is a conversation you don't want to miss. Favorite quotes: 1. Something happens when we go through hard times and when we go through difficulties. Sometimes we will lean into the Lord but sometimes there’s something inside of us that feels a little bit betrayed and let down by him and we pull away from him. 2. Let’s talk about real life. Let’s not just share cute little stories that still make us look good at the same time. Let's talk about how things are hard. Let’s talk about how we go through seasons that are soul-sucking. 3. We can’t help other people if we are not honest about what we’re going through. 4. I think to some degree it is a process of wrestling with our own disappointment and being honest with God about how we feel and everyday saying, “I don’t understand what you’re doing. I don’t understand what the time frame is, but I trust you. I trust that you know better than I know and you have good things for us in the future,” and sometimes that’s all I have to hold onto. 5. Sometimes we think partnering with God we’re going to be more confident. We’re going to have all the answers. I think sometimes God asks us to partner with him and we need to just keep swinging that hammer even when it doesn’t make sense. Great things we discussed: 1. The Personal History of David Copperfield 2. Standing Strong Hope you loved this episode! Be sure to subscribe in iTunes and slap some stars on a review! :) xo, Alli www.alliworthington.com/podcast

Intentionality. Wisdom. Strength. These are the words that come to mind when I think about Chrystal Evans Hurst! She is joining us on the podcast today and pouring out so much wisdom- you don't want to miss it! We cover so many important topics like finding mentors and friends that call us to the next level, what she's learning during COVID-19, and how to actually develop a powerful prayer life. Chrystal also shares her powerful testimony of being a pastor's daughter, who became a single mom at 19. There are so many powerful moments here! We also chat about: How stuffing her emotions impacted her in the long run Why most people don't pray and how to overcome Her experience with homeschooling before we all started it (she's a seasoned pro!) Favorite quotes: 1. I think we should stand up and say, “Listen, I need to learn something. Who can teach me?” and those who can teach sometimes need to stand up and say, “Hey I’ve got something to share, who wants to learn?” 2. I think that life becomes so much more well-lived when we take a risk and love people and we're authentic and transparent and make it a safe place for them to do the same. 3. I believe that when you recognize the power that you have not only as a spiritual being, not only as a woman, but as a believer, where you now have a true divine connection to God through the power of the Holy Spirit- that he's informing your spiritual being, and informing you intuition. It just takes this knowledge to a whole other level. 4. I'm reminded of this power we have of being connected: we may not always know what, we may not always know when, and we may not always know exactly what the thing is- but that God is always speaking. 5. Once we take the expectation off of prayer. Once we make room for it. Once we decide to release and surrender to God instead of trying to do everything ourselves, then we can free ourselves up to pray in a non-prescribed way, but in the way that works for us so that we're doing it as often as we can to leave room for God to talk to us. In this episode, I answer a business question- I am multi-passionate in my pursuits. Can I launch my brand and focus on multiple things at work once? (49:29) Great things we discussed: 1. Chrystal Hurst 2. The 28 Day Prayer Journal 3. The Blessing 4. This Is Us 5. Battlefield Of The Mind 6. Aqua Notes 7. Inception 8. Rattle 9. Standing Strong Hope you loved this episode! This conversation is one of my favorite ones I’ve ever had! If there was ever a time to stop your scroll and listen, the time is now. I'm with the one and only Pastor Chip Ingram and the timeliness of this message left me floored. Chip shares about his new book Discover Your True Self and we take a deep dive into our identities, how to break free of stagnant living, how to actually live out who God made you to be. If you are struggling with your significance, this one is going to speak to you in a powerful way. We chat about: -God’s holy ambition for us -How to move from shame to security -The powerful lesson Chip says he's learning during the craziness of 2020 Favorite quotes: 1. We either live for God’s approval or from God’s approval. 2. We need an accurate view of God before we have an accurate view of ourselves and that comes from Scripture. 3. God is a God whose arms are open, who's looking for us even when we are afar. When we say we don’t want anything to do with you, he will let us have our own way. And the moment we come to our senses, his arms are open and he loves us. 4. Holy ambition is discovering what God made you to do and doing it with all your heart. 5. Because you are beautifully and uniquely made, there are people that no one can help, or love, or understand the way each individual person listening to us right now are them. Great things we discussed: 1. Chip Ingram 2. Discover Your True Self 3. Lauren Daigle 4. Aaron Keyes 5. The Stylistics 6. Doobie Brothers 7. Foyle’s War 8. Poldark 9. Oneness Embraced 10. If you feel like your dreams are on hold or under attack, this episode is for you. I'm with the Grammy and Dove award-winning Ryan Stevenson to talk about calling and dreams and the amazing backstory of his music career. We chat about his fascinating journey from a paramedic in a tiny town to a smash hit songwriter in Nashville, what an emergency ambulance call had to do with funding his first album, and how he bounced back stronger than ever after being cut from his first record label. We also talk about: -The hit song he wrote "just for fun" -What the songwriting process looks like for him -And why no one is an overnight success. Favorite quotes: 1. Looking back, every moment has been so crafted by the Lord. Just painting a picture and using even my mess-ups, even my mistakes, even my brokenness, even my wounds, and my scars. The things that I didn’t do or say right. The things that I didn’t get right. He even wove those into the story and has made such a pretty mosaic out of every experience. Not just the good stuff. 2. Sometimes it’s easy to let a dream die when we don’t see the results that we think should be there. 3. We weren’t made for the mountaintops. We’re made for the valleys. 4. When our heart is totally lined up with his, our dreams line up with his. 5. If my songs and my music are not pointing people to the healer and the comforter, in the hope of Jesus- I am just making a bunch of noise and I will not do that. 6. Hearing other people confess the dirty parts of their life and the broken parts of their life heals us. There’s something so special and spiritually profoundly healing when we’re able to testify and share our stories. In this episode I answer the question, “Does God still do miracles?” Great things we discussed: 1. Ryan Stevenson 2. Weathering the Storm book 3. Weathering the Storm Podcast 4. Someone You Loved 5. Are you ready to drop the guilt over things you don't really care about? Can you name and decide what really matters to you in life? Today, I'm with the fabulous Kendra Adachi and we are going to deep dive into the brilliance of her new book The Lazy Genius Way. I mean it when I say, her message is life-changing. We are going to talk about how to stop our "all or nothing" cycles, find your area of genius, determine what's worthwhile in your daily life- and honestly stop being so TIRED. We also talk about: -Why you may only need one expert voice on a given topic -How to start small for monumental change -And why your underwear will actually show up when you need it (you'll get it later) Favorite quotes: 1. To be a lazy genius is to be a genius about the things that matter and lazy about the things that don’t.2. Rather than be like, well I can’t do anything and give up or keep trying harder at the things you actually don’t care about. Choose what matters. Be a genius about that. 3. Let’s stop being so tired. Let’s have energy about things that matter to us and let’s start caring about the things that matter to us and letting the things that don’t matter, let other people care about those. We can all care about our different things and not have to compare our lives and how we’re choosing to live them like we’re on some sort of continuum of womanhood. 4. We think that starting small just doesn't make a difference but if you don’t start small, you usually don’t start at all. 5. When you name what matters to you, then you can essentialize your life and only keep what matters. 6. You do not need another list of things to do. You need a new way of seeing what is in front of you. We are back with THE BEST OF- and bringing back the one and only Beth Moore! Beth needs no introduction as a trailblazing Bible teacher, author, and speaker--but we will discuss her call to ministry as a young girl, the fire that keeps her going no matter the circumstances, and what Tuscany taught her about suffering, growth, and God. And, Beth was so on fire that we let her take over coaching today. We'll also discuss: -When to know if you are actually called or if it's your own desires -Why I almost killed a man on Mount Olympus in her honor -Her Enneagram number, favorite mascara, and the one female product you shouldn't wear on stage Listen now: Click here to listen in iTunes. Click here to listen on Google Play. Click here to listen on Stitcher. Click here to listen on Spotify. Favorite quotes: 1. A vine produces a grape when a vine is concerned that it may not survive. It has to be under enough stress that it wonders, “I wonder if I’m going to make it here.” It is only then that the grape produces. 2. I feel like there are so many people at risk of quitting because they think that God somehow gave out on them or up on them. 3. If we don’t recognize that going forward involves cutting back to prepare us to go forward and that a lot of times growing looks a lot more like shrinking, then what happens is we quit. 4. I think one of the things I’m most called to do in this era of my life is to cheer people on in their calling. I feel a tremendous responsibility to that. To say to people He’s not done with you. Even if you are going through a time of chastisement with Him, even if you have reaped the whirlwind here. God so faithful. His grace is so immeasurable and He will be faithful. Anybody that cooperates with Him and abides in the vine- He will see to it that we bear much fruit. In this episode BETH answers your questions: 1. What prompted you to start writing and teaching? (30:33) 2. How do you discern when the calling is from the Lord or your own secret desires? (57:07) https://alliworthington.com/podcast/beth-moore2

I’m with the legendary Gary Thomas to talk about his new book "When To Walk Away". We'll explore toxic relationships, how we can recognize them, and examine how Jesus set boundaries in his own life. This message from Gary is life-changing, and if you struggle with a toxic relationship in your life, he will equip you with tools to break free in a healthy, biblical way. In this episode we discuss: 1. The difference between a difficult relationship and a toxic one. 2. Playing spiritual offense vs spiritual defense 3. Why it's so important to break free from toxic cycles Favorite quotes: 1. If somebody is trying to get you to stop being you or get you to stop doing what you are convinced God wants you to do- for you that person is toxic. It’s an attack on your being and an attack on your mission. 2. Jesus had such a freedom to walk away and it wasn’t about failing or succeeding it was about the person just not receiving. 3. I walk away from toxic people not to go binge Netflix. I walk away to invest with reliable people. I walk away from toxic relationships into healthy relationships. In this episode I answer these questions: 1. How can I motivate myself to make changes in my life? (43:45) 2. What’s your perspective on the best way to evangelize? (48:36 ) 3. What’s the best advice you can give a woman with a dream (54:32 ) Great things we discussed: 1. Gary Thomas 2. When To Walk Away 3. Kari Jobe: Steady My Heart 4. Get ready to laugh today! No one brings the belly laughs like my friend Sophie Hudson and today we cover a lot of ground; her trip to Kenya, her book writing process, and how monkeys with spicy pistachios sparked her last book idea. Sophie shares what her latest book meant to her as an Enneagram 9- trying to stand up more in life. We also explore how she felt like a late bloomer in the publishing world and why she's glad she didn't release her first book until she was in her 50s. We also chat about: -Why woman need to prioritize the creative process on their to-do lists -The products that make us feel like old women, but are FABULOUS -The hilarious reason she was drooling during our call and the facial problem her jade roller couldn't fix We even discuss what investment you need in the bedroom. (Just wait for it!) Favorite quotes: 1. Initially, we may have things that we want to burn it down but really what we want is some fresh fire to help however we’re meant to help usher in the kingdom 2. I think that’s something else that’s hard for women is to be kind to ourselves because you really can’t do everything. You really can’t, not all at one time. Something is always going to get the short end of the stick. For coaching time, I’m answering this question- How do you keep your email from getting overwhelming?
