Today, I’m joined by the brilliant Kobe Campbell —trauma therapist, author, speaker, and an all-around amazing woman. This is hands-down one of the most insightful and transformative conversations we’ve ever had on the show.
In this episode, we dive into practical wisdom and expert tools that will change your life. We’re talking about how to begin healing from past experiences, why your past still influences your present, and what you need to know to break free.
In her new book, Why Am I Like This?: How to Break Cycles, Heal from Trauma, and Restore Your Faith, she shares why our past pain continues to affect our present and how we can move forward to break the cycles.

Koby’s Recommendations:
The show Kobe is enjoying right now is Missing You. It’s incredible.
Kobe’s book she’s loving right now is the fiction read, Before I Let Go. It touches on notes of marital strife, reconciliation, and touches on a romantic novel, but it has a mental health thread, and she loves that.
A product Kobe has told friends they need is a Cuisinart Meat Thawer. It thaws meat super quickly and it has saved her dinners when she’s forgotten to thaw the meat.

I'm thrilled to have the insightful and amazing Ian Cron with us today. You may know him as the author of The Road Back to You, the famous Enneagram book. He's back with a new book, The Fix, about making the 12 steps accessible daily.
Ian reveals how the 12 steps can serve as an emotional and spiritual health trellis. These steps are practical, transformative, and essential for our growth. I'm excited for you to listen to this show.

Ian just loves the song "When My Morning Comes Around" by Iris DeMent. It’s beautiful and heartfelt.
Another Americana song that Ian recommends is Amsterdam by Mary Gauthier.
The TV show Ian is watching right now is Slow Horses. He loves this one!
Ian has been telling people about This Is Happiness by Niall Williams lately. It’s like word candy, and he can’t get enough of it.
On the non-fiction front, Arthur Brook’s book Build the Life You Want is super great! The title can throw you off, but this is a great book. And Brook’s book Strength to Strength is a good one to help you find the qualities you bring into the world.
The product Ian has told a friend they have to try is the Magic Bullet. He said the creator is a genius!

Welcome to the wonderful, messy world of self-sabotage — where we are both the hero and the villain in our own story. And it’s not just you. We all do this. The question is: Why do we sabotage our own success, and more importantly, how do we stop?
Today, we’re diving deep into the psychology behind self-sabotage and breaking down practical steps to get out of your own way. This isn’t about judgment or shame — it’s about awareness, action, and breaking free. And remember, God didn’t create you to live stuck.

I'm thrilled to be joined by the brilliant Dr. Warren Kinghorn, a renowned psychiatrist and theologian from Duke University.
Dr. Kinghorn bridges the gap between faith and mental health in this must-listen episode. We dive into a universal struggle but rarely discuss and explore how the church can better support our emotional well-being.

Warren’s Recommendations
A song Warren is loving is from the album Sanctuary Songs - Centering Prayer. The key theme is being where your feet are. The capacity to just be. He’s trying to step into that.
Warren is watching Ted Lasso on TV right now. It’s been so much fun. The complexity of the characters and the focus on loving people for who they are are encouraging.
One book Warren describes as rich is Christ on the Psych Ward by David Finnegan-Hosey. It’s a beautiful book about his own experience.
Another faith and mental health book Warren recommends is Dust in the Blood by Jessica Coblenz. She writes about how we can draw from Biblical examples of being in the wilderness.

We are in our emotional health series and you know I'm obsessed with increasing our emotional health, not just for us but for the benefit of everyone who crosses our path. Today, I'm sharing 13 things I wish someone had told me in my 20s.
In my 20s, I thought emotional health was for people who journaled in candlelight and lived in yoga pants, but it's for everyone. Trust me, your emotional health matters way more than you think, whether you're 20, 40, or 60.

It’s mid-January and cold and to mix things up a little bit, I’m loving adding a little cinnamon and vanilla extract to my green tea. It makes it taste amazing!
The song I’m playing on repeat right now is Nothing I Hold On To by Jesus Co. It’s a great way to worship God and feel better at the same time.
